Lauren has been working on her thrifty bedroom makeover and, minus a few minor touches, it is finished! If you are new to the blog, you can catch up with Part 1 and Part 2. To give you a refresher, here is a “before” picture.
Welcome to the “after”…
Lauren painted the desk (still needing knobs…no biggie) and the chair was a $10 antique find. She made the art above the desk (read about that in Part 2) and the rug was a Shopgoodwill.com find. Do you see a glimpse of those fabulous curtains? Here, I’ll give you a better look. : )
Her mom made them out of fabric that they scored at a super discount and they are fabulous.
Lauren painted her dresser a soft gray and above it, she displays Goodwill finds and favorites from her world travels.
When Lauren found this mirror at Goodwill, it was plain wood. The shape reminded her of a pagoda in the Forbidden City, so she painted it likewise. She also found this Chinese puppet at Goodwill, broke it down, and painted the background and the frame (WORLD of difference!). You can see the before pictures in Part 1.
This little box is from Goodwill. Knick knacks and details add such warmth to a room.
This nook is painted a warm orange to add a “pop” to the room. She hung a mirror (gifted), a painting that she did herself (brought me to my knees, it is so good), and dressed her bed with a second-hand bedspread.
Lauren, this is fantastic! I think you perfectly accomplished what you wanted–a cozy nook where you can display all the things from your travels. This room reflects you, so well. I know you love it and I hope you enjoy it, immensely! Thank you for showing us that a room can be redecorated through thrifting, Goodwilling, and working with your hands!
Enjoying the Good Life,
