Thrifty Bulletin Board

Now that I work from home, I’m always looking for ways to up my “Office Organization” game in order to keep my desk from getting out of control. Notes, lists, reminders…I swear, they multiply when I’m not looking! So, I decided to pair up a couple of things I found at Goodwill: picture frames…

And cork- I’ve found both cork tiles and rolls on various thrifting adventures!

My goal? To create a simple but effective bulletin board that looks a little snazzier than the options at an office supply store!

To do so, I first painted my frames in a color that would coordinate nicely with my office décor.

To give my cork at little something “extra”, I sponge painted cream paint very lightly across the entire cork tile. This is totally optional, but I just had to give it a try- I could always flip it over if I didn’t like it, right?

And when all the paint had dried, I cut the cork to fit inside my frame, used super glue along the edge to keep it in place, and attached cardboard (or foam board, or mat board, etc.) to the back of the frame to finish it off. There- a DIY bulletin board that looks SO MUCH NICER than the average cork board.

I plan on making several of these to hang above my desk- they’ll keep the desk clutter down and look great doing so…and all from Goodwill to boot!
