Repurposing Round-Up: Picture Frame Edition

There are certain items that can be found at every Goodwill store– coffee mugs, books, picture frames, board games, etc. And for every commonly found item, there are a million different ways to repurpose and upcycle them, and I’ve collected ten of my favorite ideas for you. Today’s common item of choice?

Picture frames! Inexpensive and available in every size/shape/color imaginable, these are one of my favorite things to shop for at Goodwill. There are a TON of different ways to reuse them, and here are some of my favorites.

Herb Drying Rack

A great idea as we head into the summer gardening season.

DIY Shadow Box

A fun way to dress up a plain shadow box to display your collection.

Seasonal Wreath

Endless possibilities for every season and holiday!

Jewelry/Earring Organizer

A great way to clear the clutter from your dresser.

Tiered Trays

Turn frames into decorative organization!

Light Switch/Outlet Décor

Add a little pizzazz to humdrum light switches, outlets…even your thermostat with picture frames.

DIY Terrarium/Greenhouse

On-trend home décor that you can personalize all year long.

Dry Erase Board

Keep everyone’s schedules on track with this amazing idea!

Contemporary Photo Holder

Use a frame for its original purpose…but with a modern rustic twist.

Charging Station

A charging station AND tablet display board all in one? Sign me up!

So, which one is your favorite idea?? Or, have you created something unique using a Goodwill picture frame?

Frames are just a blank canvas waiting for a fantastic project to come along- I don’t know about you, but I am DEFINITELY inspired.

Craft on!

  1. Wow! These are all fabulous ideas that I never thought of. I buy alot of frames because I paint with acrylics and like the framed look better than just the painted edges on the canvas, but now you are opening up a whole new reason to keep looking for unique frames!

  2. These are all great ideas. Love them. I am definitely looking for unique frames the next time I visit Goodwill. Thanks for sharing.
