Repurposing Round-Up: Cutting Board Edition

So, with this month’s repurposing round-up, I’m sharing one of my FAVORITE Goodwill finds- wooden cutting boards! I am telling you, they are the ultimate blank canvas- no matter the shape, no matter the construction, no matter the kind of wood used, they are just begging to be upcycled and repurposed.

With very little work, a beat up, scarred, and stained cutting board can get a gorgeous facelift and be as good as new in just a few minutes. Take it a step or two further, and you have a brand new piece of home décor! So, I’ve gathered a few of my favorite ideas to provide some inspiration for you….

DIY Clip Board– A simple but GENIUS reuse for an old cutting board, with great farmhouse style.

Re-covered Footstool– Want the easiest fix for a broken or unraveling footstool? Replace the top with a freshly polished cutting board…as good as new!

Chalk Board– An old cutting board is perfect for repurposing as a chalkboard message / memo center!

Succulent Planter– Combine two thrift store finds in one (cutting board and wood bowl) with this fantastic planter.

Kitchen Signs– Get your stencils ready, because old cutting boards are easily transformed into GORGEOUS kitchen signs!

Tablet Stand– I love this! Wouldn’t this be so handy in the kitchen when you’re following a recipe online?

End Table– Pair a cutting board with a kitchen stool and suddenly you have a stylish end or bedside table.

Tic Tac Toe– Ok, now this is about as easy (and fun) as it gets…a cutting board repurposed into a Tic Tac Toe game board!

Decorative Shelf– This is the sweetest little shelf, all from an old cutting board (or breadboard). So many ways to personalize it your taste…

Farmhouse-Style Tray– Perfect for entertaining, a DIY serving tray from a cutting board is a terrific repurpose, that’s for sure.

So, which idea is your favorite? Or, have you created something else entirely using a Goodwill cutting board? I always snap them up whenever I’m thrifting because you just never know when inspiration will strike!

Craft on!
