By now you all know that I am a certified fan of the picture frame selection at Goodwill. But did you also know that I am a HUGE fan of DIY Halloween décor? Well, thanks to a recent thrifting adventure at my local Goodwill, I was able to combine the two in a single project, thanks to this Victorian house picture frame that I found while thrifting.
It was actually kind of spooky on its own, but me being me, I had to give it a bit of a makeover. First, I disassembled the backing from the frame, and painted the entire house black.
I loved how the glossy black makeover looked, but wanted to add just a touch of shimmer and color. So, I used a little gilding wax in purple and copper to highlight some of the picture frame details.
When I was all done, this is how the picture frame looked- exactly like a Halloween haunted house!
Next, I needed to fill in the “windows” of the house picture frame! I simply printed out Halloween graphics I found online (scans of vintage Halloween postcards) and replicated the original stock-photo insert that had come with the picture frame.
And that was it!! From an oddball picture frame to fun Halloween décor in no time at all.
Will you be thrifting for your Halloween costume or decorating needs this year?
Happy Halloween and Craft on!
