Guest Post: The Goodwill Gal

I recently asked my Facebook friends what their favorite finds were for the year 2012.

A vintage Barbie tea set, brand name winter coats, shoes, an office chair that currently retails new for over $800 and so much more.  My friends are amazing Goodwill shoppers!

One of my favorite items from Goodwill for the year 2012 is actually not one item, but several of the same item, vintage milk glass..

I purchased several, okay, a lot, of pieces this year and use them throughout my home all-year-round. Not only do I purchase milk glass from my local Goodwill, Goodwill of Central Arizona, but also other Goodwill stores nationwide.  Goodwill is my go-to source for pretty much everything, even when I travel.  I believe it’s the perfect spot to pick up a memento from my travels.

This is how I’m currently using some of my milk glass vases.  After all the holiday décor is packed away, I love to keep things nice and simple.  These are my ‘winter whites’.

I even have a milk glass bowl next to my stove, to keep garlic and onions within reach.  Believe me, it’s everywhere you look.

Last year, this is how I displayed my collection on my hutch for the spring season,

And used just a few for the holiday season.  You can see my entire collection on Pinterest.

Last year, my husband asked me, “How much is too much milk glass?”  My response was, “I don’t know?  I’ll have to get back with you on that.”  He will still be waiting for an answer while I keep looking for more milk glass in the year 2013.

Do you have a favorite item or collection from Goodwill?  I love to hear about all of the great items people find at Goodwill.
