Getting Cozy with Goodwill

There’s nothing like a potential threat of snow or other winter weather to make you want to never leave the house again and instead nestle into your home for a long winter’s nap.

To cozy up our homes even more in an inexpensive way, I went to see what Goodwill had to offer to help fight off the winter blues.

A slow cooker will keep your apple or mulled cider at the perfect temperature all day to keep the chills at bay.

You’ve got to have mugs too, to hold your warm beverage of choice! The oversized ones that are more like bowls with handles are the best.

Bring in a little extra light with some new lamps, because the dark days of winter don’t provide much natural light.

Of course, you can enhance the ambiance with candles. Or, for a different type of mood lighting, keep the Christmas lights out and repurpose them to light up a dark corner of your home and bring visual warmth into the room. To avoid that college dorm room look, try putting lights on top of a bookcase or underneath a cloche.

Cuddle in with a traditional knit sweater if you are the kind of person that needs to get dressed in real clothes during the day. Of course, I’m going for the bathrobe, fleece pants, and slippers look as long as I’m at home!

It might not actually take the chill out of the air or make the cold any more tolerable to those who dislike it, but it sure helps on the commute from work to think about being able to snuggle into some of the comforts of home.

But then again, for those of us in South Carolina, as they say, if you don’t like the weather, wait a few days because it will change. By the time you read this, you could be wearing short sleeves and sandals again.
