Repurposing Art

You may remember, I found this painting at Goodwill a few years ago. It’s just been sitting around, unused and that is such a waste. I think it’s really cool, as it is. But, if it’s not being used, then we might as well diy with it. : )

I used a white acrylic paint to cover the canvas. Some of the texture and color showed through, but it doesn’t matter because I kept layering, anyway.

I started with blotches of yellow…

and continued to fill the canvas with color.

Then, I lightly brushed white back over the color to tone it down and blend it, a bit.

Can you believe what a transformation it is? Both paintings are cool, but it was fun to completely re-do a painting.

Happy Monday!

  1. Love it!

  2. Last year I did this for a Christmas gift. I bought a painting at Goodwill on a nice canvas stapled on an inch and a half wooden frame and painted a completely new scene over it as a Christmas gift for someone in my family. I think I paid about $6.00 for it.
