If you can’t find a picture frame at Goodwill, then you might be looking in the wrong section because they have SO many. I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a Goodwill that didn’t have frames. Sometimes they are perfect just like they are, sometimes you have to paint them–regardless, they are generally less expensive than buying one at a department store. Also, do people still use the term “department store”?
This frame has a mat, but I didn’t have it in for this “before” picture. You’ll see it later.

Let’s back up in time, just a little. My husband and I were browsing through Pottery Barn (A great place to kick back and take a break from shopping. Also, a great place to get lost in the magic of peaceful decor.). They were giving away these paint decks with their “suggested colors” and right when I saw it, I knew what I would do.

I pulled the paint cards off of the deck and arranged them on a piece of printer paper until I liked the way they were lined up. Then, I taped them down. Printer paper and scotch tape. This is a fancy shmancy project, my friends.

Then, I just popped it in the frame and taped it to the back of the mat–because I hate when my pictures slide around!

I seriously like the way this turned out. As in, it’s one of my favorite projects, yet. And, besides the frame, the art was free. That’s the best kind of art, for sure.
Enjoying the Good Life,
Kendra

Great upcycle! I always look at the frames at Goodwill but they are always priced too high compared to the same frame new. I love paint chip projects and will always check them out at link parties.
I have shared a few and would love for you to have a look if you get your hands on some more free samples and need a little inspiration!

Saw this on Young House Love a while back and attempted it….it did NOT look as good as yours (or theirs). Maybe I’ll try again!
