I woke up a few weeks ago, checked my email, and was beyond happy to see that Gap (of all places?) had sent me an email about creating a diy beach tote. Seriously, those people are too cool. Good style + diy tips? Bravo, Gap, Bravo…
Naturally, I went to Goodwill and picked up this summer-fun-yellow tee. Are you ready to make one? Let’s go…
1. Cut off the neckline, sleeves, and hem (I forgot to cut the hem and had to go back and do it later). Adjust the amount that you trim the neckline and sleeves according to the size your prefer your straps.
2. At the bottom of your t-shirt, cut even strips all the way across–mine were about 7 inches high.
3. Holding onto your tee, stretch the strings out.
4. Tie and double tie each set of strings.
There you have it! Toss in some sandals, sunglasses, and a bottle of water…
…and you are ready to soak up the sun!
Enjoying the Good Life,
Kendra

i tried making it for my friend’s birthday gift, adn it turned out okay. not as good as this. don’t know if it was the shirt i bought, which i got from a.c. moore..and my cutting was a little more choppy. not as good as i wanted it to be. :/

This is so cute! Thanks for sharing your tutorial. I’m planning a trip to the beach with some girlfriends next month. I think I’ll surprise them and make one for each of us.
