DIY: Painted Chevron Tote

I’m not much of a pink person–I like it in small doses, but this bag reminded me a little too much of an Easter egg. But, I knew it had potential and just needed to be toned down a little.

Chevron is still going pretty strong, so…why not? I printed off a template (You can find it on my Pinterest) and traced in on the front with a pencil.

I painted every other zig-zag with grey acrylic paint. Fabric paint would work, too, but acrylic is just what I had on hand.

Once it was finished, I still felt like it was lacking something, so I added some dots with the eraser end of a pencil and some gold acrylic.

So much better! I think this is the perfect little bag for carrying books, crafting supplies, gym clothes, etc.

Can you think of a great use for this tote? You’re in luck! It’s available in my Etsy shop.

Enjoying the Good Life,

  1. Super cute idea! I just love chevron!

  2. Way cute! I have fallen in love with chevrons, though I hadn’t thought to make a paper stencil the way you did. Cool stuff!

  3. So cute! I have a plain old tote bag in my craft space that makes me cringe every time I look at it because it’s a snooze. I never even thought to stencil it. Thanks for the inspiration!!

  4. How cute. Anything pink AND chevron gets an A+ in my book! I found you at A Bowl Full of Lemons– thanks for sharing!
