I ran in the grocery store, yesterday, to pick up a few things and I only took my keys and my card in with me. As often happens, “a few things” turned into half a cart full and, sometime towards the end of my shopping trip, I suddenly realized that I wasn’t holding my card anymore. A credit card, people. Do you know how hard that could possibly be to find? I asked an employee, asked customer service, and started retracing my steps. Guys, I was almost crying trying to imagine all the places I could have set it down without thinking. It’s flat–it could have been on a shelf anywhere. Or in the freezer section? Oh my.
I found it in the bananas. For realz.
I must have set it down when I went to separate a bunch (Do you do that? I don’t need 7 bananas, just 3.). I’m so, so thankful I found it and found it quickly. But, y’all–that adds a whole new meaning to “going bananas”.
Moving on.
Alicia send me these pictures of her most recent amazing Goodwill purchase. As you may remember from her kitchen tour, Alicia is a serious Goodwill shopper, but this one takes the cake.

$5.99, my friends. What?! So cool.
Happy Wednesday (Happy May!)!

Do you remember when I bought this straw purse at Goodwill? It was from Target and it still had the tags on it!

I planned on gifting it at Christmas, but I just like it so much that I kept it.
Fast forward.
This week, I started reading The Honest Life and it is SO good. It’s all about living clean and green and it is such a comprehensive guide to clean living. I definitely recommend it.
And, wait–what is Jessica Alba carrying on page 5?

What, what?! So cool.

This project is too simple and too cute not to share. Statement necklaces are definitely trending and I love that this has the soft touch of a ruffle. There are a lot of tutorials online, but this tutorial is easy and clear. So, grab a shirt from Goodwill (or a skirt, or a dress, or a pillowcase…) and make a fun necklace to welcome in the spring!
Happy Friday!

Apparently, tassels are where it’s at this season. And, I’m not complaining because, well–I think they’re fab. How can you not love a good pair of loafers with tassels, or a necklace, or anything?
Here’s the thing: let’s diy it. Because, you know that if it’s in style, we should totally find a way to do it ourselves.
Start by wrapping your string around a card–business card, credit card, etc. I used embroidery thread, but I think it would be fun with leather or baker’s twine, too.

Remove the string from the card and use a second piece of string to wrap just below the top, leaving enough room to thread your necklace string through. Tie it off.

Use scissors to clip to loops around the bottom. If your strings are uneven, just trim them up a bit.

Take another piece of string and thread it through your top loop to use your tassel as a necklace or to adhere it to something else.
Bam! 5 minutes, tops. Proceed to make a million because it’s just that fun.

I love scarves. I even wear them in the summer and, considering our southern heat, that’s saying a lot. Ladies neckties are trending and I think they’re a great way to bring your scarf into the spring without the warmth.
I picked a a thin floral fabric. Someone was donating their fabrics to Goodwill and I got first dibs on a few before they took them to the store. I cut a strip about 4″ wide and a little longer than a typical scarf (so I can tie it).

Using sewing adhesive (That’s right! This is a no-sew project!) I folded the strip right sides together and ironed the strip at the edges.

Then, I just flipped it right side out and tied a knot in each end. Voila! A quick, easy accessory! And, a great way to add a punch of color to an outfit.
